The Meaning of Our Emblem

Our logo has been developed to honor the memory of both Grandmaster Umpad and Grandmaster Cabales, and, to recognize the birthplace of each art.  It also is a symbol of respect and acknowledgment to all of the pioneers who heralded their systems from the Central Valley of California; the West Coast cradle of Filipino martial arts in America.  Furthermore, it serves to pay homage to the elders, the sacrifices they made, and, our ancestral geographic origins, the Visayan island chain of the Philippines.  Designed by Mr. Steven K. Magness, this particular logo is exclusive to the membership of The Visayan Eskrima Guild and its respective Board of Directors/Examiners.
